Welcome to the July edition of the Bradworthy Newsletter.
Some more good news this month! Following correspondence with two Parish Councillors over the last four months and as a result of negotiations with the Parish Clerk; Energie hontor Ltd, who operate the wind turbines, have offered to increase their contribution to the Trust Fund. This is a gesture of goodwill on their part. In a letter dated 14th June their Project Manager is clear that the turbines are always rotated by the wind and not by electricity as has been suggested.
In the property pages this month is advertised a cottage down by the river bridge near the Mill. It says the property was last sold at auction in 1909 for £65.00. I surmise, therefore, that it was part of the Berridon Estate at that time as Berridon Farm was also sold in 1909. The late Cecil Collacott, who had connections with Berridon Hall, wrote a series of interesting articles about the history of the village and its people. Are there any present day historians in the village who could contribute to the Newsletter? If so, please do get in touch.
I look forward to articles for inclusion in the August Newsletter. Please, therefore, hand them in at the Social Club or send items for inclusion by e-mail to newsletter@bradworthy.co.uk or 'phone/fax 241147.

Bradworthy FC end of season Dinner and Dance
Over 80 people enjoyed an even ing at tile DUrrant House Hotel on 20th May for Bradworthy Football Club's annual end of season dinner and dance. The move to the Durrant House was a popular one, with everyone enjoying excellent food, a disco and, of course, one or two drinks!
The event is an opportunity for members of the three football teams, the managers, helpers, supporters and sponsors to get together and celebrate the achievements of the season. Central to the evening is the presentation of the Player of the Year awards for each team. The third team award went to James Hunt, the second team award went to Steve Lee, and the first team award was presented to team captain Gareth Martyn. Chris Hamblyn, manager of the first team, presented his `Manager's Player of the Year' award to Paul Shadrick. Alan Clarke earned the award for top goal scorer. All the trophies were presented by Micky Clarke, who moved on to manage Appledore FC earlier in the season after many years running Bradworthy's first team.
The three team sponsors-Alan Balsdon Builders, Martins and Wades - were thanked for their continued support, and the club was pleased to welcome some of the sponsors amongst its guests. Dot Clarke also received a bouquet of flowers
as a thank you for evervthing she does to ensure the chanyoing rooms and kits are ready for every team, every week. Jonny Furse took the opportunity to update everyone with the successes of the various age groups that make up Bradworthy Youth FC, and thanked everyone involved.
A great evening enjoyed by all who attended!
On Friday 24th June more than 150 players, brothers, sisters, friends, mums, dads and other family members descended on The Big Sheep for Bradworthy Youth EC's end of season party. It was excellent to see so many people representing the village in such a positive way. Every player - 57 in total - received a trophy to commemorate the successes of the previous season. Jonny Furse, Youth FC chairman, congratulated all the teams on an excellent season, and thanked the team sponsors - South West Highways and Roger Andrews Builders - for their continued support. He also thanked Alan Balsdon for providing the mini soccer pitch. Training for the teams will restart during August. New players (boys or girls) across any age group are always welcome. Please- contact me on 241946 in the first instance, and I'll put you in touch with the relevant team manager.
Neil Nixon.
