July 2006

Welcome to the July edition of the Bradworthy Newsletter.

This months Newsletter is quite "lightweight", not for want of articles particularly, just "editorial" time!

There has been feedback about the Parish Council Website idea. There is, of course, a Bradworthy website that is well visited. If anyone has any ideas about the Parish Council Website, I am sure the Clerk would be pleased to hear. There are some good events coming up this month, particularly a week of fundraising events in Clovelly by the Kathleen and May. Next month is the Dog Show and the Carnival that, hopefully, will be well supported again this year. The Carnival is on Saturday 26th August this year and, as I understand Wayne Rooney said before the quarter final match, we need your support!

Please hand in any articles for inclusion in next month's Bradworthy Newsletter at the Social Club or send items for inclusion by e-mail to newsletter@bradworthy.co.uk or 'phone/fax 241147.

Bradwothv Parish Council

Millennium Garden

The Council thanked several volunteers who had come forward to help maintain the garden - they and any others who wish to assist should contact Cllr. Mrs Margaret Coles or Cllr. Mrs Sheila Wright who are coordinating this work.

Mr Bob Lancaster was thanked for planting a flowerbed and around some village signs and elsewhere.

Wind Farm

The developers are not prepared to give details of the actual amount of power generated by the Forest Moor Turbines although they say the output compares favourably with the initial predictions. The Council is looking elsewhere for this information.

There has been no more correspondence nor reports on the Wheelers Cross proposal since the initial contact by the agents in January, last.

The Community Fund

While there are alterations proposed within the Church the Council considered it an opportune time to consider putting in a winding mechanism for the Parish clock in the church tower. New fencing is required around part of the play area. Both these items are eligible for community funding. The Council asked for views of parishioners, preferably in writing so they can be studied before being discussed at a Council Meeting.

Bradworthy Moor

The Council had an interesting discussion with Mr Mark Walter, Chairman of the Bradworthy Graziers' Association now the Countryside Stewardship Scheme is in its second season. It was suggested the Council, acting as owners, might be able to assist the Association with some aspects of management.

Phantom Paint Daubers

Recently blue and yellow paint was splattered on the school building. It is likely those involved would also be splashed with paint. The authorities would be pleased to hear from anyone who can identify the culprits, paint covered or otherwise.
